Elara Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 27, 2026
This policy explains what information Elara collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to write it in plain English. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].
Who we are
Elara Travel Inc. (“Elara,” “we,” “us”) operates elara.travel and the Elara application. We help families plan and book travel.
Our service is intended for residents of the United States. People outside the US can join our waitlist, but we are not currently onboarding international customers. If you’re outside the US and want to be removed from our waitlist at any time, email us at [email protected].
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect:
- Your name and email address.
- Information you choose to share about your travel: hotels you’ve loved, trips you’re planning, destinations you’re interested in, anything else you tell us in the form.
When you become an Elara member and use the app, we collect more:
- Family details you share with us — names, dates of birth, ages of children, home location.
- Travel preferences — hotel styles, room configurations, dietary needs, anything relevant to planning your trips.
- Trip history — past trips, current trips, future trip ideas, hotels you’ve saved or booked.
- Conversations — messages you send through our in-app chat, WhatsApp, email, SMS, or phone calls with our travel team. We save these so we can serve you better and improve the service.
- Payment information — when you book a trip through us, we collect your credit card details to make the booking on your behalf. (More on this below.)
Automatically, when you visit elara.travel or use the app, we collect standard technical information: IP address, device type, browser, pages viewed, referring source. We use this to understand how the service is being used and to improve it.
How we use what we collect
We use your information to:
- Run and improve the Elara service.
- Plan trips with you and book them on your behalf.
- Communicate with you about your trips, your account, and occasional product updates.
- Understand how people use Elara so we can make it better.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
How we share information
We share your information with a small number of trusted parties, only as needed to run the service:
-
Hotels and travel suppliers. When we book a stay or experience for you, we share the information the supplier needs to fulfill the booking — your name, contact details, dates, special requests, room preferences. The supplier becomes responsible for that information once we’ve shared it with them.
-
Service providers we use to operate Elara. These include:
- Tidio (in-app and web chat)
- WhatsApp Business (messaging with our travel team)
- Sabre (booking inventory and reservations)
- Resend (email delivery)
- Meta (advertising performance, via the Meta Pixel)
- Our internal tools for managing customer relationships
Each of these companies has its own privacy practices. We share with them only what they need to do their job.
-
Legal and safety. We may share information if we’re required to by law, or if we believe it’s necessary to protect Elara, our customers, or the public.
-
Business changes. If Elara is ever sold, merged, or restructured, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We’ll let you know if this happens.
How we handle payment information
When you book a trip through Elara, we collect your credit card details and use them to make the booking with the supplier (the hotel, tour operator, etc.). The payment relationship is between you and the supplier. Elara never holds your funds.
Today, we collect card details by phone or secure message, store them in a password-protected vault, and use them only to make the bookings you’ve authorized. We are working toward a system where card details are handled through our booking partner (Sabre) directly, which will reduce the time we hold them. We’ll update this policy when that’s in place.
How we use cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies on elara.travel for two reasons:
- To make the site work — remembering your session, your preferences, that kind of thing.
- To measure how our advertising is performing — primarily through the Meta Pixel, which lets us understand which ads led to waitlist signups.
You can disable cookies in your browser. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as your Elara account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to support our business operations, comply with legal requirements, and resolve any issues that may come up. If you ask us to delete your information, we will (with limited exceptions for things we’re legally required to retain).
Your choices and rights
You can:
- Update your information by emailing us or editing your profile in the app.
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link at the bottom of every marketing email. You’ll still get transactional emails about your account and your bookings.
- Ask us to delete your account and your data by emailing [email protected]. We’ll do this within a reasonable time, subject to any legal requirements that prevent deletion.
- Ask us what we have on you by emailing the same address.
If you’re a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we’ve collected, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. Email [email protected] to exercise any of these rights.
If you’re in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar privacy laws, you have rights under those laws too. Although we don’t currently serve customers outside the US, we’ll honor reasonable requests from waitlist signups in these jurisdictions to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us — including encryption in transit, access controls, and limiting who on our team can see what. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee that information you share with us will never be accessed without authorization. If we ever discover a security incident that affects your information, we’ll let you know promptly.
Children
Elara is a service for adults planning travel for their families. We don’t knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Parents using Elara may share information about their children (names, ages, preferences) so we can plan family trips appropriately. That information is treated the same as any other family information in this policy.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy as Elara evolves. When we make material changes, we’ll let active members know by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top.
